Tucked into the edge of Darlington village life and steeped in Georgian charm, the Croft Hotel underwent a stunning transformation in 2023, blending traditional character with luxurious, boutique-style flair. Armitage & Wilson were delighted to contribute to this regeneration by crafting a range of bespoke seating and upholstered features that elevate the hotel’s interiors while staying true to its heritage.
Our involvement focused on two key areas: the bar and function suite, and the individually styled guest bedrooms.
In the bar and lounge areas, we manufactured a series of custom booth seating designed to echo the rich, characterful aesthetic of the space. Deep velvet textures in jewel tones were paired with playful fringe trims and patterned backs, creating seating that feels indulgent and inviting. With exposed brick walls, layered planting, and a curated lighting scheme, the booth seating adds a distinct sense of personality while remaining supremely comfortable and durable.
In the function suite, we supplied curved, floral-upholstered booths that bring both drama and intimacy to the space. These built-in pieces, finished with tactile trims and plush cushioning, anchor the room with elegance—creating defined zones for guests to gather while complementing the venue’s whimsical, botanical-inspired scheme. Positioned under lush ceiling foliage and framed by soft lighting, these curved banquettes help form a setting that’s ideal for weddings and private events.
The individually designed bedrooms each tell their own story through colour and texture. We were commissioned to produce a series of bespoke headboards, each tailored to match the room’s individual theme. From bold scalloped silhouettes in moss green velvet to bronze studded trim details in contrast piping, every piece was designed to make a statement while offering a sense of calm and comfort. These headboards sit against rich wall coverings and coordinated fabrics, contributing to an overall sense of luxury and thoughtful design.
This project allowed us to showcase our love of detail and our ability to deliver unique, high-quality furniture tailored to site, style, and setting. The newly reimagined Croft Hotel is now a true destination—bold yet refined—and we’re proud to have played a role in shaping its next chapter.
